約拿書精簡但充滿提醒，書中人性的軟弱和神性的美善，都可給我生命反思，約拿躲避神，但患難中他向神呼求，被神使用，但又向神發怒，最後神用溫柔慈愛和體貼溝通，讓他明白神對人的愛惜！雖然沒有再記載有關約拿往後的服侍如何，我深信他因這次體會，一定與神更合拍和精彩。
耶和華說：「這蓖麻不是你栽種的，也不是你培養的；一夜發生，一夜乾死，你尚且愛惜；何況這尼尼微大城，其中不能分辨左手右手的有十二萬多人，並有許多牲畜，我豈能不愛惜呢？」(約拿書 4:10-11)
